Muto's Moment #5

Flow

The rapids were my companions
We moved together in a herd
As one

Stillness
Was the only thing I could feel
Each movement immediately filled my mind completely, replacing the previous one

Mine was a full experience of the present
Mine was a complete connection with the water
Submerged, consumed, immersed

Then

By an erroneous accident
I was able to transcend the fluidity
My head rose from the current

The rapids had taken me over a waterfall
I had not even noticed
The drop

Muto's Minis #9

These are two artist trading cards I made with the Undergraduate Art Association. I had fun playing with colored pencil and water color pencil. I hope to do something spectacular with water color pencil soon.

Do you think there is anything particularly magical or powerful about art?

Muto's Moment #4

Momentum

A moment does not exist
A moment cannot be experienced
A moment cannot be seen, heard, or touched

Experience the world
A constant churning
An endless rotation

A cloud that looks like a boy
Until you look back
And it is a man

And when you look again
It is just a white wisp
Against the boundless blue sky

A "moment" is a lie told by art
A "moment" is a drug peddled by Kodak
A "moment" is a fantasy world where time stops, right when we are happy.

Muto's Proud to be Published

Two of my works (above) have been published in the Spring 2010 issue of the Cellar Door! The issue has some other great artwork by my friends Rebecca Smith and Ariel Rudoplph. There are also some excellent stories and poems. I really like the story by John McElwee. Caroline Fisher, who has two poems in this issue, is brilliant. Be sure to pick up a copy in the front of the UL.
